About Student Council

The student council is an association comprised of representatives elected by the students of PSG College of pharmacy.

ESTABLISHMENT:

The council was first constituted during the academic year 2008-2009 by Xiphodians (2005 batch) the senior most batch of the academic year.

OBJECTIVE:

The objectives of student council includes

• To actively participate and conduct the college activities such as cultural, sports, college day, graduation day, seminars and induction programs.
• To organize student welfare development programs such as seminars, welfare activities, personality development program career opportunity activity, interviews etc.
• To assist in college developmental activities.
• To promote and encourage the students to take part in extra-curricular activities along with the academics
• To promote good relationship between students and lecturers

CONSTITUTION:

The student’s council was started under the guidance of faculty and runs under the basic principle of “student welfare”. It was an intermingling of academic and extra- curricular activities.

EXECUTIVE BOARD:

Thirteen executive board members are the elected members for various posts in council from each batch.

GENERAL BODY:

It constitutes all the student council members and staffs of PSG College of Pharmacy.

ADVISORY BOARD:

It constitutes with one staff member, two PG students each one from First and Second year of any discipline and one from Fifth or Sixth Pharm.D

STAFF COORDINATORS:

The members of the student’s council are the student’s representatives elected by the students of their class and through interview

OFFICE BEARERS:

POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE OFFICE BEARERS:

PRESIDENT:

The President shall preside over the executive board meetings and the general body meetings.

VICE PRESIDENT:

The vice president shall act for president in his absence. He shall render advice to the executive board with regard to promotion of the objectives of the council. The vice president shall have powers to convene executive board meeting of the council in the absence of secretary.

SECRETARY:

The secretary should attend all the activities as approved by the executive board. The secretary should be responsible for carrying out all correspondence and preparation and distribution of the council.

TREASURER:

The treasurer shall be responsible for the maintenance of the financial records and account of the council. The treasurer operates the funds of the council jointly with the patron in a nationalized bank. He also actively participates in fund raising activities along with secretary.

JOINT SECRETARY:

The joint secretary will assist the secretary for the management of the activities in relation to council. The joint secretary shall act as secretary in the absence of secretary.

SPORTS SECRETARY:

Sports secretary will look after all the sports activity in the college. Sports club activities will be planned and executed by him. Outdoor participation of sports activity will be under his responsibility.

CULTURAL SECRETARY:

Cultural related activities will be under the in charge of cultural secretary. Organising cultural event in various college programs as requested by the members. Outdoor participation of cultural activity will be under his responsibility.

EXECUTIVE MEMBERS:

The executive members will act as a messenger between the council members and executive board. They help in arranging volunteers from their respective classes for college activities like cultural, sports, seminars etc.

ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

GENERAL:

• Maintaining the inter person relationship between juniors and seniors
• Maintaining the cleanliness of classrooms and surroundings
• Monitoring the dress-code and uniformity of the students
